Home

The spirit winds blown by the breath of fate have brought these six musicians together. Home’s members hail from Wisconsin, Texas, and Colorado, giving them a vast array of musical flavors and styles. Home began in the cramped dorm rooms at the university in Stevens Point WI. Matt majoring in music, and Zach in theatre, strummed their hearts out every night over cases of beer, dreaming of a future where they could change the world with their music. Over five years later, the path to that dream became evident when Matt and long time friend Jeff decided to move to Denver and pursue a professional career in music. Home performed as an acoustic trio for almost a year before meeting mandolin virtuoso Mark, and though he was already in an original working band, he was told that Home was the road that would take him to his destiny. Shortly after that while performing at an open mic the guys met Precious, and her sultry vocals and tribal percussive style began making an appearance at more and more shows until she left her former group to focus all of her energy on Home. They found the final piece of the puzzle in Morgan, a musical acquaintance whose group had recently won Westwords “hottest up and coming band” award, but needed more stimulation. One unplanned meeting at the bar finally brought them entirely home.
Their family dynamic is very apparent through their visible love, and on stage communication, creating an incredibly energetic, emotional, and passionate show. Home is quickly blowing up the Denver music scene. Within four months of forming their current arrangement Home performed for one of the largest crowds in Sancho’s Broken Arrow’s history, packing the small bar with over 450 people on a Monday night. They have begun to perform regularly in numerous mountain towns across CO, and recently headlined a Friday night show at Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom! In February of 07 Home won the Denver “Cosmic Break” battle of the bands, earning them a spot 10KLF where they performed to the largest crowd at the saloon stage at noon in two years! After returning from the festival HOME was invited to play WookieFoot’s Harvest Fest on the main stage! In Aug. of 07’ home won the judges vote in a battle of the bands with over 250 groups and a prize of $10,000.00. January 08 Home dominated the Wakarusa Winter Classic in Denver, securing their slot by fifty votes!
Home also has a good amount of touring under their belt, traveling 1,100 miles almost a dozen times (in a mini van packed seven deep with only five seats) to play shows across the Midwest receiving rave reviews, and developing a strong following. The band will be traveling to Texas in March to begin to build a fanbase there. Home has also been featured on the front page of the Shawano Leader Newspaper, in Local WI Radio, and featured in KCUV’s CO homegrown segment.
Homes future consists of tours, tours, and more tours! Starting in May of 08 Home’s goal is to play over 200 shows a year in every possible demographic, especially hitting as many summer music festivals as possible. Meeting wonderful people and sending a message of peace, love, and freedom is a passion for all of Home. All the while continuing to groove audiences with their funky improvisations, and sonic harmonies. Thriving from such eclectic roots, spawning a style all their own, this is a “Folkadelic Jam-grass Funkplosion” that will make anyone feel at home.
