It began with a basement. David Crowe found one in Denver after spending his college years in Chapel Hill, followed by a stint in the greater Bay area. After failed attempts with various bands, he wrote an ad that simply read, “Gary Young seeks Stephen Malkmus.” Raleigh was born. They wrote noisy pop songs. Bryon Parker found them in his online search for a band to join once he arrived in Denver from upstate NY. Dave Sprague was itching to play drums again after playing in bands in Milwaukee and Denver. Mike Perfetti kept jumping on stage at shows and singing all the best parts, so he was added as a 4th member, and thus Raleigh took its present day shape and sound. Raleigh is loud.
